Year 7 Popstars chose their new mentors for the forthcoming school year after a rigorous selection process this morning. Grilling the candidates for suitability, the younger students really put their potential helpers through their paces to find out what they had to offer. It must seem like a sea-change for the Year 9 students as less than a year ago they put their own forbears through the same interview. Year 9 Popstars threw themselves into the activity with commitment, determined to pay back some of that expert advice on how to tackle the middle years of school received from those in the know. Mrs Ahmad kept her whistle busy as the strictly minute-long micro-interviews gave a taster of what each potential mentor had to offer. And from next year the balance of power will shift as the older student guides will begin to hold their younger friends to account for their own ambition.
